Your account. Email address, display name, username, avatar choice, the languages you study and your level in each, time zone, and your reminder preferences.

Your words. Each word you add, along with anything you attach to it: where you met it, your own note, the generated definition, example, translation, pronunciation and picture, plus your review history — how many times you have seen it, quiz results, and when it is next due.

Reminders. If you turn on notifications, the push endpoint and keys your browser issues. If you opt into email, the delivery, open and click status of the messages we send you.

Usage events. Page views and in-app actions (opening the garden, starting a quiz, adding a word), each with a random device identifier stored in your browser, the platform, and whether you are using the installed app. We use this to find out where the product is confusing, not to build an advertising profile.

Friends and garden. If you add a friend, the connection itself, garden visits and reactions. Friends can see your garden; they only see your word terms if you have turned that on in settings.

Word enrichment. When you add a word, the word and any context you wrote are sent to Anthropic (and in some cases OpenAI) to generate the definition, example and translation. Images are searched through Pexels and Wikimedia Commons. Pronunciation audio is generated by Google Cloud Text-to-Speech.

Speaking exercises. If you answer by speaking, the audio clip is sent to OpenAI for transcription and is discarded immediately after — we never store your voice.

Email. Sent through Resend.

Hosting. The app runs on Vercel and the database is Supabase (PostgreSQL). Data is stored in the United States.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising.

For your account, your words and your review schedule: we need them to provide the product you asked for. For reminders: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. For usage events: our legitimate interest in making vocab7 work properly — you can ask us to stop and we will.

Your words and account stay until you delete them or ask us to close your account. Usage events are kept for 12 months. Email delivery status is kept for as long as the account exists.

Stop reminders. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can pause everything in Settings. Turning notifications off in your browser or phone also stops push immediately.

Get a copy, correct it, or delete it. Email anddy0622@gmail.com from your account address and we will export or erase your data. We aim to reply within 30 days.

If you are in the EU/EEA or the UK you may complain to your local data protection authority; in Korea, to the Personal Information Protection Commission.

vocab7 is not intended for children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect their data.

If we change what we collect or who we send it to, we will update this page and move the date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the app.
